The veteran of the Colorado coaching staff, James Nyumutei returns for his 17th season as the Buffs’ long and triple jumps coach.

   

A standout for the Colorado track and field team in the 1970s, Nyumutei was an NCAA triple jumper from 1974-76.  His then-outdoor mark of 53-6, set in 1974, is one of the longest standing records in the program’s annals.

    

He graduated from the Boulder campus in 1976 with a degree in organizational management and a minor international marketing.

    

Born in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, he enjoys traveling around the world, photography and cooking in his free time.
