High School: A track and basketball athlete at Denver Christian High School, Lowery was a two-time first-team all-state and first-team all-league/conference selection in track. In addition, as a senior, he was named Senior Athlete of the Year and Metro League MVP as well as first-team all-league/conference, team MVP and team captain in basketball. Lowery graduated with the school record in the 400-meter (48.9), and lists the biggest moment of his prep career when he placed in three of four events at the state championships as a junior, breaking the 3A state record in the 400-meter.

Personal: Daniel Robert Lowery, Jr. was born February 19, 1985 to parents Dan and Debra Lowery in Aurora, Colo. His aunt, Lisa Thompson, played basketball at the University of Wyoming. His hobbies include four-wheeling, paintball, hunting and working on vehicles. Lowery chose Colorado over Colorado State, Baylor, Gonzaga, Texas and Pepperdine. His intended major is business and he would like to own his own business upon graduation. His high school teammate, Brett Schoolmeester, is now his teammate at Colorado.
