High School: Captain of the Grandview track team that was league runner-up his senior season, Barton scored the second most points over the course of the season in Grandview track history. He was a state runner-up in the pole vault with a jump of 14-7, although his highest jump. That mark gave him the school record in the pole vault and he also owns the record for triple jump at 43-8.

Personal: David Linhart Barton was born on Sept. 11, 1983 in Aurora, Colo., to parents Thomas and Jean Barton. A scholar-athlete in high school, Barton is still undecided on his major at Colorado but has narrowed his career choices to being either a doctor or a lawyer.
