2002 Track & Field: Torres had a first-rate outdoor season. He came in first at the ASU Invitational in the 3,000 meter run (8:28.73) and first again in the 5,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays making him a NCAA provisional selection. Torres? best effort came in the 10,000 meters where he was first at the Cardinal Invitational (28:42.28) for an NCAA automatic bid, second at the Big 12 Championships (29:48.48), and ninth at the NCAA Championships (29:36.15) Torres also ran in the 1,500 meters.

2001 Track & Field: An already accomplished and gifted runner as a freshman, Torres continued to impress taking second and sixth places in the 5,000 meter run (14:20:89) and the 3,000 meter run (8:26:17), respectively, at the Big 12 Indoor Championships and placing second in the 5,000 meter run at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships (14:28:26). He won the Cardinal Qualifier in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:49:72 and then went back to the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he felt comfortable from the previous year and took 13th place in the 10,000 meters (30:12:26).

2000 Track & Field: Both the indoor and outdoor season were successful for Torres. During the indoor season he finished second at the Husker Invitational in the 3,000 meters (8:34.70) and 13th in the 5,000 meters run at the Big 12 Indoor Championships. Moving right along to the outdoor season he placed ninth in the 1,500 meters run at the Mt. SAC Relays capturing a personal record with a time of 3:53.88. Torres also ran in the 5,000 meters finishing 6th overall with a time of 14:14.22 at the Stanford Invite. He also finished fourth at the Penn Relays and second at the Big 12 Championships (14:22.55, 14:34.11 respectively).

High School: Edwardo?s prep career culminated in a third place finish in the Illinois Class AA State Cross Country Championships, securing Wheeling?s first boys state title in cross country, a mere five points ahead of the runner up. The finish was his best in the meet as he was 11th as a freshman, ninth as a sophomore and eighth as a junior. At the FootLocker Midwest Regionals in Kenosha, Wis., the younger Torres finished in tie for eighth, crossing the finish in 15:16.43. Advancing to the national championships, he finished sixth in Orlando. Was a three-time FootLocker finalist, taking 23rd as a sophomore, and sixth both his junior and senior years. Was a 1997 and 1998 High School All-American.

Personal: Edwardo Torres was born August 22, 1980 in Chicago. He is the youngest of Jose and Maria?s five sons: Jose (30), Javier (27), Danny (23) and twin Jorge (20).
