2015: Indoor: Gaytan competed in three individual events, as well as the 4x400-meter relay. He recorded a PR of 6.96 in the 60-meter dash at the Joe Davies Open (2/21), which was third overall. At the MPSF Championships, Gaytan placed 16th in the 60 and clocked in just shy of his PR in the 200 (22.33) for 18th overall. The 4x400 relay placed seventh at conference in 3:16.91.
Outdoor: Gaytan ran the 400, as well as the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. He recorded a season-best time of 48.42 in the 400 at the Jack Christiansen Invite, placing fourth overall. At the Pac-12 Championships, he was 15th in the prelims, finishing in 49.95. Gaytan also ran in both relays at Pac-12s. He helped the 4x400 to a sixth place finish (3:13.90), while the 4x100 was eighth (41.05).
2014: Indoor: Gaytan competed at two meets for the Buffs in his redshirt freshman season. He started the season with a sixth-place finish in the 300-meter dash at the Air Force Holiday Open (12/13/13), finishing in 35.50. Gaytan ran in a pair of events at the Air Force All-Comers Meet (1/11/14). He was eighth in the 400 (50.16) and took 10th in the 200 (22.31).
Outdoor: Gaytan competed in the sprints for the Buffs. He raced to a season best of 10.92 in the 100-meters at the Mines Last Chance (5/10), placing fifth overall. At the Cowpoke Open (5/3), Gaytan ran a season best in the 200 at 21.88. He went on to compete in three events at the Pac-12 Championships. Individually, Gaytan was 14th in the 400 (49.74). He also raced in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. The 4x100 team ran a time of 41.38 and the 4x400 team clocked in at 3:14.35; both placing sixth at the meet.
2013: Indoor: Redshirt. Did not compete.
Outdoor: Redshirt. Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: Gaytan was a two-time Colorado State High School Champion, winning the 400-meter dash (47.95) in 2011 and the 4x200-meter relay in 2009. He was named all-state as a junior and freshman and earned all-conference accolades his freshman through senior seasons. Gaytan was also recruited by Colorado State, Wyoming and New Mexico.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Gaytan is a psychology major.
PERSONAL: Erik Jovan Gaytan was born on October 19, 1993 in Denver. He is the son of Alan and Sandi Mullica of Littleton, Colo. and has one older brother, Jordan.
