2003 Track & Field: Carr competed in the weight throw during the indoor season, and the discus and hammer throws during the outdoor campaign. In the weight throw, he tallied three of the team’s top four scores on the season, including an eighth place finish at the Big 12 Championships for a team best score of 57-09.50. Carr also established three of the top five team scores in the discus throw during the outdoor season, including a season-high 164-10.00 at the Tom Benich Classic. His top finish was a third-place showing at the CU Twilight with a throw of 157-01.00, while he took 10th place at the Big 12 Championships (161-08.00). In the hammer throw, Carr’s season best mark of 172-04.00 was good enough for a ninth place finish at the Big 12 Championships.
2002 Track & Field: Carr competed in both indoor and outdoor throws. He competed in the indoor shot put, hammer throw and discus throw, throwing a high of 154-1 in the latter to finish second at the Jack Christensen Invitational. At the outdoor Husker Invitational, Carr threw season highs in the shot put (45-7.75) and the weight throw (54-6), finishing 12th and eighth respectively.
Personal: Matthew Kokuanao’a Carr was born on Sept. 29, 1981 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the son of Michael and Connie Carr. Cousins, Koa Ostrem and Kanoa Ostrem both played volleyball at UCLA. His intended major at Colorado is management operations with an added interest in studying history as well. Upon graduation, Carr would like to operate a resort hotel in Hawaii. He lists surfing and reading as his favorite hobbies.
