2010: Indoor: Lyons ran in a trio of 400-meter dashes during the indoor season, clocking a seasonal-best of 62.33 at the Don Barrett Duals (1/30). She ran the seventh-best 600-yard run by a Buff in 2010 when she clocked a time of 1:32.15 at the Potts Indoor Invite (1/23). Lyons competed in the 800 at the Air Force Invite (2/12-13). She ran 2:30.61 in the prelims for 13th-place and improved her time to 2:28.18 for 12th in the finals.
Outdoor: Lyons ran at the Tom Benich Open (4/3) during the outdoor season. She competed in the 400 and 800. Lyons’ time of 1:04.09 in the 400 was the sixth best time in 2010 for a Buff. She also ran a time of 2:34.44 in the 800.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lyons was a two-time state qualifier while at George Washington. She earned letters all four years. Lyons was the regional USATF record holder in the 3,000-meter run (10:55.62) in 2002.
HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: 400-Meters: 58.2; 800-Meters: 2:17.2, 1,600-Meters: 5:20.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Lyons intends to major in psychology and is also interested in pre-medicine. She was a member of the honor roll in high school and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
PERSONAL: Precious Desta Lyons was born on May 28, 1991, in Denver, Colo. She is the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Lyons. Lyons has two sisters, Passion and Devonna, and one brother, Frederick. Her uncle is Brian Kelly, who played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions. She lists her hobbies as reading, shopping and dancing.
