2003 Track & Field: Whisenton was an indoor and outdoor participant, competing in the 600-yard, 400-meter, 800-meter, 4x400 relay and the distance medley relay during his junior campaign. His 600-yard run of 1:14.16 led the team and took fourth place at the Frank Sevigne Invite, while his 4x400 relay team claimed eighth place (3:18.75) and the distance medley relay team second (9:50.50) at the Big 12 Championships. Outdoors, Whisenton’s top times were a 49.96 in the 400-meter and 1:58.44 in the 800-meter.

 

2002 Track & Field: Indoors, Whisenton raced in the 800-meter run, 400-meter dash and the 600-yard run, finishing fourth at the preliminaries of the Big 12 Championships in the latter (1:12.16). He was part of the 4x400 relay team that took two second place finishes during the season and had a season-high time of 3:13.47 for eighth at the Big 12 Championships. Whisenton was second in the outdoor 400-meters at the Colorado Invitational (49.9). His outdoor season also included the 200 and 800-meter runs.

 

High School: Whisenton lettered four years in track under coach Don Gatewood at Montbello High School, graduating with the Denver Public School record in the 4x800-meter relay. The four-time league champ was also the Simplot Games champion in Idaho.

 

Personal: Reginald DeShean Whisenton was born Sept. 14, 1982 to parents Ben Whisenton and Beverly Hall in Saint Louis, Missouri. He chose Colorado over Colorado State, New Mexico, Kansas State and Southern, and plans to study economics with the hopes of becoming a sports agent upon graduation.
