3,000 meters: 8:21.46 (2017)
2017:Â Indoor:Â As a first year Buff, Capetillo concentrated on the 3,000 meters. In February, he recorded his fastest time with an 8:21.46 at the Husky Classic.
Outdoor: During his freshman outdoor season, Capetillo ran in the 1,500-meters for the Buffs. His fastest time and best finish in the event came in the Jerry Quiller Classic with a time of 4:08.68 and 15th place finish.
HIGH SCHOOL: Capetillo was the Baldwin Park High School Athlete of the Year after earning first team All-CIF honors in track (3,200-meters) and cross country. He also earned the honor his junior year in the 3,200. During the course of his career, Capetillo earned four letters in cross country and four on the track team. As a senior, he finished second in the 3,200 at the CIF-SS Division 3 Finals and advanced to the state championship finals. As a junior, Capetillo was fifth in the CIF-SS Division 2 Finals of the 3,200. On the cross country course, Capetillo placed sixth at the 2015 state championships, finishing the 5k course in 15:26.8.

PERSONAL: Salvador Anthony Capetillo was born on February 10, 1998 in Los Angeles. He is the son of Salvador Capetillo and Gloria Marquez of Pomona, Calif. Besides running, Capetillo enjoys playing piano and violin.
