2008: Higby competed in the weight throw and the shot put during the indoor season. She earned a personal record of 35-06.50 in the weight throw at the CSM All-Comers Meet but her best finish in the event came at the Potts Invite when she took seventh. Higby launched a toss of 35-09.50 in the shot put for a season best at the Potts Invite; it was also her highest finish. During the outdoor season Higby threw the discus, shot put, hammer and javelin. She recorded a pr of 123-07 at the CSU Ram Open (4/19) and took 13th overall. Higby’s season best throw in the shot put was 37-03, which she threw at the Potts Invite and took seventh. She did record a pr in the hammer throw at the first meet of the outdoor season, the Potts Invite. Higby tossed the hammer 122-05 and placed 15th. The javelin was the only event she competed in at the Big 12 Championship. Higby recorded a throw of 113-06 for 14th place. She recorded her pr a few weeks prior at the Jack Christiansen Invite (117-01) and placed second.
HIGH SCHOOL: Higby threw the shot and discus in high school and earned four letters as a member of the track and field team. As a senior, she took second in the shot put and was third in the discus at the state championship. She was also third in the discus her junior year. Higby was an all-state selection on the EHS softball team as a senior. She earned all-conference first team selections as a junior and senior and was on the second team her sophomore year.
ACADEMICS: Higby is majoring in aerospace engineering at Colorado, but is also interested in mechanical engineering. Higby was the Salutatorian at
