Indoor

Pole Vault: 16-00.75

 

2010: Indoor: Nixon became the fifth best performer at CU in the pole vault when he cleared a height of 16-00.75 on Feb. 12 at the Air Force Invite. One week later at the CSM Twilight Meet he reached the same height and earned third-place finish overall. Those two marks tie for seventh in the CU record book.

Outdoor: Did not compete.  

2009: Indoor: Nixon’s main focus during the indoor and outdoor seasons was the pole vault. He recorded his best jump of the indoor season at the Air Force Invite (2/13). Nixon cleared the height of 15-01.00 to take fourth.

Outdoor: He reached the same height in the outdoor season at the Rob Upton Invite (3/28) and finished first. Nixon was awarded a medical hardship for the outdoor season as his season was cut short due to injury.

HIGH SCHOOL: Nixon was a state qualifier in the pole vault as a junior and senior. He was the state runner-up in 2008, which he also lists the biggest moment of his high school career. Nixon’s PR of 15-7 was obtained at the Great Southwest Classic. He earned three letters on the track team and one for cross country.

ACADEMICS: Nixon is majoring in psychology. He was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2010.

PERSONAL: James. R. Nixon was born on April 2, 1990 in Denver, Colo. He is the son of Scott and Cathy Nixon of Centennial, Colo. He has two older siblings, Jeff and Kelsy. He lists biking, running and music as his hobbies.
