2010: Indoor: Bachmann only competed in the weight throw for his final indoor season. He launched his personal best at the Colorado School of Mines Open (2/19) with a throw of 55-02.25. The toss earned him a third-place finish and was the second best by a Buff that season. At the Big 12 Championship, Bachman was 13th with a throw of 53-11. He also threw over 50 feet at the Husky Classic (2/13). That time he earned 15th place with a throw of 50-08.75.
Outdoor: Bachmann led the Buffs in the hammer throw and was the second leading male on the team in the discus. He recorded a pair of tosses further than 175 feet. His best of the season was 176-10 at the Big 12 meet. Bachmann’s throw was 176-10 and earned him an 11th-place finish. Just one week prior he recorded a throw of 176-03 at the Fum McGraw Open (5/8). The mark was the fourth best at the meet, his highest placing of the year. In the discus Bachmann had the sixth and seventh best throws by a Buff. His top finish was fifth at the Jack Christiansen Invite (4/24) with a throw of 160-05.
2009: Indoor: Bachmann competed in the shot put and weight throws. He recorded a PR of 44-02.75 in the shot put at the Air Force Duals meet (1/31) and placed 12th overall. Bachmann’s season best in the weight throw came at the best time, at the Big 12 Indoor Championship. Although he did not score for the Buffs, he placed 12th with a mark of 54-05.25, his best throw of the season by over two and a half feet.
Outdoor: The outdoor season was better for Bachmann as he led the throwers in the hammer and discus throws. He had the top five marks in the discus throw, including a PR of 164-10 at the Mt. Sac Relays. Bachmann’s best toss in the hammer throw came at the right time at the Big 12 Outdoor meet as he recorded a regional qualifying mark of 189-03 to advance to the regional meet for the first time in his career. Bachmann placed seventh to score for the first time for CU. At regionals he placed 21st with a throw of 171-07.
2008: Indoor: Bachmann threw the shot and the weight in five meets during the season. Bachmann’s season best in the shot came in his first meet of the season (1/19) and was 44-00.50. He was fifth at the meet. Bachmann also threw shot at the Big 12 Championship and took 15th. Bachmann’s last toss in the weight throw on Feb. 19 was his farthest of the year at 47-01.50. Outdoor: Bachmann competed in the discus and the hammer throws. His pr of 158-03 in the hammer came at the Tom Benich Invite where he took 10th. Bachmann took 10th at the Big 12 Championship in the discus with a toss of 153-08. His season best of 160-09 came at the Potts Invite (3/22) where he took third.
2007: Indoor: Bachmann competed in the shot put during the indoor season, with his best throw coming at the first meet of the year at the Air Force Invitational, at 41-07.00.
Outdoor: When the outdoor season came around, Bachman participated in the shot put for the Potts Invitational meet, where he set a then-PR at 43-01.50. He then began competing in the discus, where he placed 10th at the Big 12 Championships with a mark of 160-02.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bachmann lettered in football and track & field while in high school. He broke the Eagle Valley meet record in the discus with a toss of 161-11. His personal best was a discuss throw of 162-04 which was thrown at the 3A State Track & Field Meet at Dutch Clark Stadium where he took second-place overall.
ACADEMICS: Bachman graduated with a degree in environmental studies and biology at Colorado. He finished with a GPA greater than 3.00 and was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Bachmann was a two-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 team. He was named to the first team in 2010 and the second team in 2009.
PERSONAL: Patrick I. Bachmann was born on Oct. 2, 1987 in Denver, Colo. to parents Gregory and Jeannette. Bachmann has two younger brothers, Daniel and Graham. His mom is the school counselor at BVHS. He lists his hobbies as camping, fishing, being in the mountains and elk hunting. He caught the biggest rainbow trout in the Arkansas River that was 25 inches long and five pounds.
