Courtney Wallace had limited minutes on the court in 2005-06, but her impact in practice and scouting have made her a valuable member of the team. Originally a walk-on transfer from NCAA Division II CU-Colorado Springs, Wallace earned the team’s practice player award this last season and earned a scholarship for her senior year. 2005-06 (Junior): Wallace made her official debut in a Colorado uniform in the closing minutes of the Buffaloes’ season-opening win over Cal State-Fullerton. She played in 15 of 30 contests with her most playing time coming against the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at the San Juan Shootout. She logged 10 minutes against UPR-Mayaguez, establishing career highs with three rebounds and one assist. Wallace scored her first career point against UPR-Mayaguez, hitting 1-of-2 from the line. She made her Big 12 Conference debut against Nebraska which started a career-best string of five-straight games played. 2004-05 (Junior-Redshirt): Wallace practiced most of the 2004-05 season as she sat out her NCAA mandated redshirted year after transferring from the Colorado Springs campus. 2002-04 CU-Colorado Springs: Spent two seasons at CU-Colorado Springs, playing in 29 games and recording a total of 24 points and 14 rebounds. High School: Wallace graduated from Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2002, after collecting a total of seven letters in basketball, softball, track and field and soccer. In basketball she was the leading rebounder and second leading scorer on her team. Playing first base for the softball team, she was the 10th best hitter in the state in 2001 with an average of .465 and she set a school record as her soccer team’s net-minder with 10 straight shutouts her senior year. She finished that season allowing only two goals in 14 games, the lowest amount in the state for Class 5A. She earned two of her letters as a thrower for the track and field team. Her longest throw was a 34-foot 6-inch shot put. In her last year of high school competition, she made second team All-Class 5A in basketball, softball and soccer. Academics: Wallace is a sociology major at Colorado. An excellent student, she would have been eligible for the All-Big 12 Academic team, but did not play in enough contests to qualify. Personal: Courtney Jeannene Wallace was born on March 15, 1984, in Wilmington, N.C. Her parents are Bob Wallace and Kelly and Patricia Shaffer. She has an older sister, Brianne Nunn, who works at the University of San Francisco and a younger brother, Robert Wallace, who is a junior at CU. Her hobbies include writing, chalk art, reading, playing basketball and watching football. After she receives her degree in sociology from CU, she hopes to become either a coach or a statistician. She is a published poet and is scuba certified
