1995-96 – Did not compete for the Buffs.
High School – Lettered three times for coach Tom Bancroft and the Bruins. Cherry Creek took second in the team competition at the Colorado Girls’ State Tournament her junior and senior years, as Vevurka and Co. were edged both times by her eventual Colorado teammate Michelle Thomas and Heritage High School. Vevurka was named first-team all-league as a junior (tabbed second on the league’s All-Star list) and also finished 10th at the state tournament at the end of her junior campaign. She was her team’s Most Valuable Player as a junior – when she played at the No. 1 position for the Bruins – and the team’s captain her senior year. She also participated on the varsity softball team at Cherry Creek her freshman and sophomore years.
Other – In the summer of 1994, Vevurka took top honors in her division in the Colorado Junior Girls’ Stroke Play Championship, and has also won junior tournaments in Eaton and Boulder. She joined with high school coach Bancroft to lead a camp for juniors last summer where she specifically tutored four linksters from the ages of 8 to 10.
Personal – Born October 10, 1976, in Denver. Vevurka wan an academic standout at Cherry Creek, as she graduated in the top 10 of her class of nearly 800. She placed second in the DECA nationals in the team competitions as a senior and was an individual finalist in the same as a junior. She was also a member of her school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. She is undecided on her major at Colorado, but is interested in business.
