2004-05: She played in two tournaments during the fall, posting a stroke average of 82.00 in five rounds. Her best round was a 75 in the first round of the Heather Farr Memorial.
2003-04: Rodriguez played as an individual in the first two tournaments of the season and made enough of an impression that she played as a scoring member in five of the last six. Her 21 rounds were the second most by a first year player and she was just one of two newcomers to play at the Big 12 Tournament where she finished 54th (77-87-164) in her second lowest 36-hole tournament of the season. Her 81.0 strokes per average was fifth on the team.
Other: During the summer of 2004 Rodriguez played in the US Women’s Amateur Qualifier in Colorado Springs and shot a 79 to finish 12th. She was also a consolation finalist in Colorado Women’s Match Play and finished third in the first flight of Colorado women’s stroke play (84-87-82).
High School: A three-year letterwinner for head coach Vicki Schenk, Fort Morgan added girls’ golf during the 2000-01 school year, so Rodriguez played on the boys junior varsity team as a freshman. Since the addition of the girls program her sophomore year, she, and the Mustangs, were three-time Tri-Valley Conference champions and an all-conference performer while placing sixth at the state championships her sophomore season and 11th as a junior before claiming the 4A state title her senior year. She has also received the team’s low stroke average award at the completion of the last three seasons. The biggest moment of her high school career was winning the state tournament her senior year to become the first golfer to win a state title in the history of Fort Morgan High School after Dale Douglass finished second more than 40 years ago.
Other: The summer of 2003 she qualified for the Optimist International, the Independent Insurance Tournament and made the cut for the Colorado Women’s Open. Last summer she finished fifth at the AJGA Marisco Funds/Colorado Junior Round-Up at the Saddleback GC in Firestone, Colo. and also qualified for the U.S. Jr. Girls Championship with a 74 at the Valley GC in Aurora, Colo.
Best Round in Competition: 71, Independent Insurance Classic on Boomerang in Greeley, Colo.
In the Classroom: Rodriguez is a business major at Colorado.
Personal: Born Dec. 11, 1984 in Fort Morgan, Colo., Regina Renee Rodriguez is the daughter of Reymundo and Adella Rodriguez. Her older brother Reymundo Jr. played for the Colorado School of Mines men’s golf team. She enjoys reading, golfing and going on youth retreats.
