SENIOR (2016): Lautman became the first CU senior in program history during the 2016 season and played in all 18 games and started 12 times as a midfielder. She scored 27 goals and had two assists for 29 points and attempted 51 shots, including 45 on goal. She also had 27 ground balls, 16 caused turnovers and five draw controls, while converting 9-of-13 free-position shots. After spending her junior year on defense, she moved back to midfield and scored in her first game of the season, an 11-10 win at Denver on Feb. 12. She followed that up with three in an 18-4 win at Fresno State on Feb. 21, while adding three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Lautman found the net three times in a 15-14 overtime win over James Madison on March 3. She also had a hat trick in an 11-4 win at Michigan on March 27. She picked up a season-high four ground balls and had a season-high four caused turnovers, while scoring three times again in a 16-3 win over San Diego State on April 10. In the final home game of her career on April 17, she led the Buffs to a 16-4 win over California in a snowstorm with two goals, a ground ball, a draw control and a caused turnover. She also had two goals and two assists for a season-high four points to end the regular season with a 14-9 win at Oregon on April 24. She netted a goal in both games at the MPSF Tournament to wrap up her career on a six-game goals-scored streak. During the season, she also had two-goal games against Marquette and Marist.

JUNIOR (2015): Remaining the oldest player on the team, Lautman continued to shine in her second season with the Buffs. She played in all 18 games and had 16 starts. She had two shots on goal, with one resulting in a goal for CU against No. 13 Stanford on April 5. Lautman scooped up 18 ground balls, had four draw controls, and forced 12 turnovers. The midfielder had a strong presence on the field earning her a spot on the All-MPSF Second Team. She helped the Buffs rank third in the MPSF in goals-against average (9.16) and fifth in caused turnovers per game (7.56). She had a season-high three ground balls in a 13-5 win over Marquette on Feb. 14. She helped the Buffs to a 14-13 double-overtime win at Michigan on March 22 with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. She also had two ground balls against No. 2 Boston College, Oregon, San Diego State and No. 15 Stanford (May 1) and had two caused turnovers against No. 13 Stanford (April 5), Fresno State, Oregon and San Diego State.

SOPHOMORE (2014): Lautman had a flair for the dramatic in her debut season with the Buffs. She ranked second on the team with 78 shots attempted and 60 shots on goal and also ranked in the top six with 31 ground balls, 27 points, 26 goals, 31 ground balls, 11 draw controls, nine caused turnovers and five free-position goals. Lautman tied for third in the MPSF in game-winning goals, with all three of her game-winners coming in overtime play. Lautman netted a goal in 14 of her 19 games played (including both MPSF Tournament games), having two scoring streaks that lasted at least five games and posting eight multi-goal games. She scooped up at least one ground ball in all but three games, recording a season-high five against Fresno State. Taking three combined shots in the first three games of the season, Lautman took off in the Buffs’ inaugural home game. Not only did she score her first goal, but she also recorded her first hat trick and added a ground ball and a caused turnover. Netting overtime game-winners in back-to-back games later in the season, Lautman became the only Buff to earn an MPSF Offensive Player of the Week title in 2014. Lautman recorded a hat trick against USC, tying things up on two separate occasions, helping the Buffs pull back from a three-goal deficit. As the final three seconds of the second overtime period ticked away, Lautman got a rebound to net the game-winner as the final horn sounded, giving CU a 12-11 victory and handing USC its first conference defeat of the season. In her next outing, she netted a season-high four goals and took six of CU’s 13 shots. She gave CU its first lead against SDSU with 3:37 left in regulation and scored the game-winner with 2:01 remaining in the final overtime period. Lautman helped CU to another overtime victory at Oregon. Taking two of CU’s final three shots (both on goal), she helped the Buffs remain perfect in extra minutes, hammering home her second goal of the game 5:32 into the sudden victory period.

COACH ELLIOTT ON LAUTMAN: “Our staff is very excited to have Sarah join our program,” Elliott said. “We have gotten the opportunity to get to know her over the last year when she was a member of the CU club lacrosse team. Sarah has proven she is very driven and committed to playing at the Division I Level. She has a great attitude and work ethic. Sarah has the ability and athleticism to play many different positions for us and will add more depth to our smaller roster.”

SOPHOMORE (2013 with CU CLUB LACROSSE): Lautman was a two-year starter with the CU club lacrosse team, scoring 32 goals. Her sophomore season, the Buffs finished the season with a 7-10 overall record.

FRESHMAN (2012 with CU CLUB LACROSSE): The Buffs recorded a 13-7 record, finishing second in the Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League and entering the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association National Tournament as the No. 5 seed.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lautman was a four-year letter-winner in three sports at Reading Memorial. In four seasons of lacrosse, she scored 137 goals, helping the Rockets amass a 58-22-2 record. As a junior, she was named second-team Middlesex All-League. She continued to shine as her team’s captain her senior season, scoring an impressive team-high 68 goals, helping her to the squad’s offensive MVP title. That year she also earned first-team All-League honors and received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award. Lautman played for the Mass Elite lacrosse club from 2008-11. She also excelled as a forward on the soccer pitch, scoring the golden goal in double overtime in the Division I North Semi-Finals as a sophomore and serving as team captain her senior season. Lautman was also a member of the Reading Memorial gymnastic team, where she performed both on the bars and vault.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Lautman majors in chemical and biological engineering.

PERSONAL: Sarah Marie Lautman was born in Reading, Mass. on March 21, 1993. Her parents are David and Mary Lautman. Her father is the Lexington High School assistant principal, and her mother is a software engineer. Her nickname is “Laut.” She was on honor roll her freshman through junior years. As a senior, she received the President’s Award, given to the top 10 percent of Reading Memorial’s graduating class.
