SENIOR (2018): Gambitsky came back for one final season and earned the starting goalkeeper position through the first three games. She helped the Buffs open the season with a 20-10 win against Michigan. CU lose the following two games to ranked opponents, falling to No. 5 Florida (16-9) and No. 11 Northwestern (15-8), both on the road. In those three games, she recorded 18 saves on 64 shots faced.

JUNIOR (2017): After redshirting the 2016 season, Gambitsky returned as a reserve goalkeeper. In the four games she played in, she was in the goal for a career high of 150 minutes and saved 14 shots, which doubled her previous seven saves in 2014 and 2015. She let in 14 goals giving her an average of 5.60. Gambitsky played the second half of the game against Stetson on Feb. 19, making four saves out of the eight shots she faced and also picked up three groundballs in the 22-3 win. The goalie started the game against Winthrop where she had a career best seven saves out of 19 shots in 60 minutes. She saved two shots in the win over Fresno State on March 25.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Gambitsky saw time in the goal for four games, totaling 74:12. She racked up seven saves and did a great job of protecting the goal after facing 14 shots, earning a save percentage of .700 and a stingy goals-against average of 2.43. She saw a season-high 30 minutes in goal on March 2 in a 19-0 win over Presbyterian, making three saves to protect the first shutout in CU history. She also had clean sheets in reserve action against Southern California and Saint Mary's (Calif.).

FRESHMAN (2014): Gambitsky saw action in the crease in four games, totaling 75:45. She recorded a 6.34 goals-against average. She faced 19 shots and made seven saves for a .467 save percentage. Gambitsky made her Colorado debut in the Buffs’ inaugural game, allowing a single goal off four shots faced in just over seven minutes played in the 12-4 victory over Stetson. Gambitsky got her first save in the Buffs’ first home game, a 13-10 win over Regis. She substituted in for the second half against both Brown and St. Mary’s. Against the SMC Gaels, Gambitsky grabbed a season-high four saves and posted a .467 save percentage.
HIGH SCHOOL: Gambitsky was a four-year letter-winner, three-time Scholar Athlete and two-time All-County honoree at Wantagh. In her final season, she was her team’s captain. Gambitsky helped lead the Warriors to the Class B Division Championship her junior year and the semi-finals in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Gambitsky has also played for the Long Island Yellow Jackets (2009-10) and Long Island Liberty (2011-12) lacrosse clubs and was a two-year letter-winner in cross country.Â
IN THE CLASSROOM: Gambitsky is a communication major.
PERSONAL: Sophia Rose Gambitsky was born on June 28, 1995 to teachers Ed and Beth Gambitsky. She comes from a family of lacrosse players. Her father played at North Carolina State, and her brother Jake plays at Harvard. She chose CU over Ivy League schools like Pennsylvania and Dartmouth because she said the minute she stepped on campus she fell in love with the atmosphere, location and reputation.
