Freshman (2007): Charlesworth made seven starts and 15 appearances as a defender as a true freshman. In 779 minutes, she had one shot attempt and helped the team to a 1.09 GAA. Her seven starts came during a period from mid-September to early-October and the played 90+ minutes four times during the year.
High School: Charlesworth played for coach Anita McLane’s Brookwood High School Broncos as a prep and her junior year they went 18-2. She earned First Team All-County honors as a freshman and as a sophomore. She played for four years for the Georgia state ODP team from 2002-05, and attended regional camp in 2005. Her Georgia ODP team placed third in Nationals in 2004. Charlesworth’s Phoenix Red club side won the 2006 State Championship and advanced the USYSA Regional Championship match, repeating their 2005 accomplishments. They were a 2004 Regional Quarterfinalist and winners of the Raleigh Showcase. They also won the 2002 state title.
In the Classroom: Charlesworth intends to pursue a degree in integrative physiology.
Personal: Cortney Linn Charlesworth was born Feb. 24, 1989 in Atlanta, Ga. She is the daughter of Gary and Debbie Charlesworth and has two sisters and a brother. Charlesworth hopes to become a physical therapist after college.
