High School: A four-year letterwinner for head coach Mark Kusanovich at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, Lewis was a two-time all-conference selection as well as a multiple all-tournament honoree during her prep career. As a senior, Lewis notched a double-double season with 10 goals and 10 assists en route to first-team all-conference honors. Her Cougar team won the SJAA League, and were Division I section champs after defeating Beyer 3-2. Her junior campaign, Lewis was an all-conference selection with eight goals and 15 assists, as St. Mary’s won the Division I championship, defeating Sierra 2-0. St. Mary’s reached the sectional finals Lewis’ sophomore year, as she scored 10 goals and dished out 16 assists, earning recognition on two all-tournament squads. Her freshman year, Lewis lettered as the Cougars defeated rival Lincoln 3-0 on penalty kicks to win the Division I championship. Over the course of four years, Lewis’ prep teams earned an astounding record of 130-5-5, as well as setting a record for the most consecutive shutouts in the nation, as well as setting a record for scoring the most goals in a season her senior year. Her senior class was also the first class to win four years of varsity league championships. Lewis also ran track as a senior, and competed in softball and volleyball on the junior varsity level.
Personal: Born Nov. 11, 1982 in Stockton, Kali Leigh Lewis is the daughter of Mark and Pam Lewis. She is not the first collegiate athlete in her family, as she has cousins that play volleyball at Nevada-Reno and lacrosse at UC-Davis. She chose Colorado because she loves the environment here as well as many family connections, as her mother attended Boulder.
In The Classroom: A marketing major in Colorado’s School of Business, Lewis earned Dean’s List honors with a 3.550 spring grade point average and will carry a 3.289 cumulative gpa into her sophomore campaign. Lewis was outstanding in the classroom as a prep scholar, as she earned the Academic Honors Award for a 3.5 grade point average or higher her freshman, sophomore and senior years, as well as Scholastics All-CIF honors as a sophomore and senior. She was also a recipient of the Presidents Education Award and was a member of the senate and cabinet at St. Mary’s.
