HEMPEN ON LOWRY: I'm rooting for Kym. She's had concussion problems over her career but right now she's as fit as she's ever been going into camp. Her head is clear, everything is sorted out. We certainly need her. She has a little bit of magic to her game and her skill level. We want to use that to our advantage. And hopefully she can make it the whole year.

SENIOR (2010): Lowry had an impressive senior year finishing second on CU's scoring chart with 10 points off three goals and four assists. She was one of just three players to start every game for the Buffs. Her first two goals and two assists came in CU's first two matches when she logged one apiece. Lowry contributed to one of the biggest goals of the season as she teamed up with Kate Russell to set up Lizzy Herzl who scored the golden goal in the 108th minute of play to give Colorado a 1-0 advantage to then-No.10 UCLA.

JUNIOR (2009): Lowry started 13 of the 15 games she saw action in, missing a string of games mid-season due to a concussion.  Despite being an integral part of the Colorado defense, Lowry's single goal on the season came at the perfect time when she scored the game-winning goal with less than three minutes to play during CU's 2-1 defeat over Utah early in the season.

SOPHOMORE (2008):  After a stellar freshman campaign, Lowry started 17 of 20 games as a sophomore, and only missed three due to an injury.  Of the 17 games that she started, Lowry played start-to-finish in six of them, helping former defender Michelle Wenino hold down the defense and earn Colorado nine shutouts on the season.

FRESHMAN (2007): Lowry started all 21 games that she played in, missing only one game due to a concussion.  She led all freshmen in minutes played with 1,834 and finished the season with one goal and two assists.  She dished out both of her assists in the 3-2 win over Baylor, tying her for first in the Big 12 for the most assists in one game with fellow teammate Mel Hicks, a record they went on to hold for the remainder of the season.  Lowry's solid defensive efforts landed her a spot on the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lowry was a four-year letterwinner at Evergreen High School for coach Keenan Burris.  The Plainsmen were the district champions in 2006 and were the first team in school history to get to the state quarterfinals.  She earned first-team All-Greater St. Helen's League honors all four years and was named the defensive player of the year as a senior.  Lowry was also a first-team All-Region choice, the team captain, MVP and first-team All-State as a senior.  She was a four-time All-Region selection, as well as team captain from her sophomore through senior years.  Lowry was a two-time Washington ODP State team and regional camp participant. She also played a year on the Oregon State team and advanced to regional camp that year.  Her club team, the Washington Premiere FC, made the state finals two times and was also Harvest Cup Champions. She was a three year Scholar Athlete selection her sophomore through senior years.

IN THE CLASSROOM:  Lowry is majoring in communications at CU while fulfilling a pre-nursing minor.

PERSONAL: Kymberly Cristina Lowry was born May 4, 1989 in Vancouver, Wash., and is the daughter of Brad Lowry and Cristina Taylor.  She has an older brother, Matthew, and a younger brother Nathan.  Her hobbies include snowboarding, water sports and hanging out with friends, and she has spent time volunteering with the Special Olympics.
