Freshman (2007): Sandford started four times and made nine appearances as a freshman in 2007. Her four starts came against No. 16 Missouri, Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas, and No. 10 Texas in the in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. She was on the field for 344 minutes during the season and played the full 90 against Oklahoma.
High School: Lauren Sandford had a very successful high school career at El Modena High School in Orange, Calif., where she was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and a two-year letterwinner in track. Over her career she has seen action as a forward but has found her home on defense, leading El Modena to the Century League Soccer Championship in 2005. She was also a letterwinner on the EMHS track and field team in 2004 and 2005 and earned the Sprinter of the Year title in 2004 as a freshman. Sanford played club ball for Slammers F.C., a team that was Surf Cup Champions, California Premier League Finalists, State Cup Finalists and Region IV Champions, and National finalists in 2007.
In the Classroom: Sandford, a member of the National Honor Society, was among the top-25 in her class all four years at El Modena. A four-year Academic Honor Roll member and EMHS Scholar Athlete, Sanford was also a Harvard Book Award Finalist in 2005. Although she is currently an undecided major at CU, she hopes to start a successful career in business after college.
Personal: Lauren Cherise Sandford was born on December 13, 1988 in Newport Beach, Calif. She is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Sandford and the younger sister of Nick, 20, a sophomore on the football team at San Diego State University. Her hobbies include going to the beach with friends, watching movies and traveling. Sandford participated in Club SHOC (Students Helping Out Community).
