Bio
- 2002 Big 12 All-Academic first team
Junior (2001): Redshirt, did not play. Howard re-tore the ACL that she had surgery on the year before duing spring ball the previous year, and spent what would have been her junior season rehabbing the injury. She was in full contact practice drills late in the season, but did not get off the bench.
Sophomore (2000): Howard made her season debut against Texas A&M, substituting into the center midfield in CU’s 6-1 loss to the Aggies. Her strong play that game earned her first career start against Oklahoma State, where she became the third victim of the Sooner State curse. In the second half of the game, she tore her ACL to become the third straight Buff to suffer a season-ending injury during the Oklahoma Series (Kendall Pata (1999), Lauren Kulmann (1998). She had successful surgery to repair the injury on Oct. 20.
Freshman (1999): Howard saw action in one game, against Nebraska.
High School: A four-year starter under head coach David Larson, Howard was a defensive standout at Osbourn High School, starting every game of her career. She earned first team all-league honors from the Journal Messenger in 1999 as well as second team all-district honors, and was voted the team’s most valuable player by her peers. She was second team all-district as a junior, and played on the Virginia state level Olympic Development Team in 1998. Howard earned honorable mention all-district honors her sophomore and freshman seasons at Osbourn as well. Her club team, Team America, claimed the 1999 Under-20 state championship over the Legend club team. Her team also participated in Superclub Nationals and Regionals, as well as the Orange Bowl tournament in Florida. In Under-18 play, Team America was state runners-up in 1998. Howard also lettered in cross country and swimming her freshman through junior years.
In The Classroom: A kinesiology major, Howard has spent all six semesters on the Dean’s List and the fall of 2001 on the President’s Honor Roll with a perfect 4.00. She was the top-returning student-athlete in the athletic department prior to the 1999 and 2000 seasons and was among the top five in 2001. She will carry a 3.838 cumulative gpa into her senior year.
Personal: Regan Alexis Howard was born on April 16, 1981, and is the daughter of Amy and Gary Howard in Prince William County, Va. Her dad played collegiate hoops at SUNY-Binghamton, and her hobbies include running and listening to Jimmy Buffett.
