Schaefer in 2008

Christan Schaefer adds depth to the outside and will look to make an impact this season. She had a really nice spring and showed improvements to her entire game.

As a freshman in 2007

Schaefer saw time in one match. She played one game against UNC Wilmington (8/31). She had one kill on one attack to hit 1.000. Schaefer also had one point.

High School

Schaefer was a three-year letterwinner at Los Altos High School. She was the team leader in kills and points as a junior and senior and was named the team’s most valuable player both seasons. Schaefer was an all-league selection from 2004-06 and earned honorable mention status in 2003. As a senior, she was named the Holly Barnett Tournament MVP and the Palo Alto News Outstanding High School Player. Schaefer led the Eagles in kills and points as a junior and senior. She was also named the captain of her club teams as a junior and senior. Schaefer was able to play with her older sister, Lauren, her sophomore year.

Personal

Born Christan Perry Schaefer on August 16, 1989 in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Her parents are Gary and Perry Schaefer of Mountain View, Calif. She has a twin brother, Derek, and a younger brother Nicholas. Her older sister, Lauren, is a junior middle blocker at Colorado. Schaefer lists her hobbies as beach volleyball, golf and swimming. She chose to attend CU to play volleyball with her sister for the next two years.

Academics

Schaefer is an open major at Colorado but is also interested in business. Schaefer was a member of the honor roll in high school and received the scholar athlete award as a junior.
