As a freshman in 2008
Martell saw time in five sets over four matches for the Buffs. She made her collegiate debut at Baylor (10/11).

High School
A three-time letterwinner for the Highlanders, Martell was named the Moutgomery Country Co-Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. That same year, she was named the TWHS most valuable player, District 14-5A Offensive Player of the Year and earned special recognition on the All-Texas Team. Martell was also named to the 2007 Lonestar Volleyball All-Texas team. As a junior, she led her team to victory over Austin Bowie, the top-ranked team in Texas. Martell was named the Houston Chronicle Female Athlete of the Week on two separate occasions. She was also named the District 14-5A Best Blocker, TWHS Offensive Player of the Year and the Montgomery Country Player of the Year. As a sophomore, she was an honorable mention selection to the 14-5A team. Martell also earned a letter in track as she competed in the high jump and 800-meter run.
Personal
Born Kristin Marie Martell on April 3, 1989 in College Station, Texas. Her parents are Randy Martell and Kelly Woomer of The Woodlands, Texas. She has one older brother, Justin. Martell lists her hobbies as water and snow sports. She was also recruited by SMU, Baylor, Hawai'i, UT-San Antonio, Kansas, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, New Mexico State, LSU and CSU. Martell chose Colorado for the coaches and because it is a home away from home.
Academics
Martell is an English major at Colorado and is also interested in veterinary science.
