Aiu on Fanelli
Lauren has set for one of the best clubs in the east. She is a very dynamic setter and will bring some depth to the position for us.
High School
Fanelli was a four-year letterwinner at Moon Area High School in volleyball as the team’s setter. She led the Tigers to a 35-3 record as a junior and senior, compiling an 18-1 record her final season. Fanelli’s team won the 2005 and 20006 section championship and the 2006 league championship. She handed out 752 assists as a senior and 702 her junior year. Fanelli was an All-Section First Team member her sophomore through senior season. She was named all league in 2005 and 06. Also in 2006, she was named a First Team All-State, the Tiger’s most valuable player and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Athlete of the Week. Fanelli was named in the YMCA Top 100 Scholar Athletes following graduation.
Personal
Born Lauren Ashley Fanelli on May 14, 1989 in Pittsburgh. Her parents are Neal and Amy Fanelli of Moon Township, Penn. She is the older of four. Fanelli has two younger sisters, Meghan and Danielle, and a younger brother, Collin. Her father played baseball at the University of Pittsburgh and her aunt, Laurie Caraher, played volleyball at Tennessee. Fanelli lists traveling, spending time with family and friends and watching movies as her hobbies.
Academics
Fanelli is an open major at Colorado. She is interested in medicine as both of her parents are in the medical field. Fanelli was an honor roll student in high school
