Heather Sterlin Biglow is in her seventh season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Buffs’ combined events athletes..
The most prolific heptathlete in the Colorado record books, she is the owner of nine of the top-10 multi-event marks in the school’s history as well as competing in the long jump and as a member of CU’s school record 4x400-m relay team that came away with a sixth-place finish at the 1996 NCAA Championships. The All-American heptathlete finished third in the event as a junior and sixth as a senior. As a freshman she was the 1994 Big Eight Newcomer of the Year.
Sans graduation she competed professionally in both the heptathlon and long jump for Asics (one year) and Nike where she has held top-10 rankings in both events in 2001 and ’02, third in the latter with a season-best 5866 score. She came away with a ninth-place U.S. Olympic Trials finish in 2004.
In the classroom she graduated from CU in 1997 with a degree in speech, language and hearing science from the Boulder campus and was an Academic All-Big Eight Honor Roll student-athlete.
Born April 12, 1974 in Berkeley, Calif., the former Heather Sterlin married 1994 CU grad Andy Biglow, a former prep and CU cross country runner for Mark Wetmore, and current professional triathlete, on Sept. 25, 2004 in nearby Estes Park. When not traveling for competition, the couple enjoys international travel with favorite trips to Thailand, Turkey, Singapore and Egypt. Sterlin Biglow also enjoys cooking and studying nutrition and is a personal trainer. She owns her own personal training business.
