SAN ANTONIO, Texas -The University of Colorado women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Texas here Thursday night at the Blossom Athletic Complex, drawing a close to the program's second-ever season.

Colorado finishes the season 6-12 overall and 5-6 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas, at 10-9 and 8-3, advances to the tournament's second round to challenge No. 1 seed Texas A&M.

"We played hard, and we're happy about that," head coach Austin Daniels said. "We had chances, but Texas dictated the pace of the game."

Colorado keeper Sloane Cox once again sparkled, recording seven saves and allowing just the one goal, but she and the Buffaloes fell just short in the face of a Texas offensive onslaught that saw the Longhorns outshoot Colorado 30 to 12.

After the teams battled to a 0-0 halftime tie, Texas scored the game's lone goal in the 51st minute, with Katie Baruth taking an assist from Rachael Safirstein and putting the ball past the outstretched fingertips of Cox and into the back of the Colorado net.

The Buffaloes had a handful of chances to tie the game in the remaining 39 minutes of play, but Longhorn keeper Cami Varnadore, who recorded six saves on the night, couldn't be passed. Senior Donna Holyman paced the Buffaloes offensively, registering five shots, and freshmen Melissa Cartmell, Allison Gausman and Andrea Matassa recorded two shots apiece.

Texas will square off against Texas A&M Friday night at 6:30 p.m. MST. The winner of that game will challenge the winner of Friday's Nebraska-Baylor second-round match in Sunday's championship game.
