IOWA STATE EDGES COLORADO SOCCER 2-1

AMES, Iowa -The University of Colorado women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Iowa State University here Friday, moving the Buffaloes to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Big 12 on the year.

The loss came for Colorado despite a relentless offense that produced 21 shots for the Buffaloes.

"They capitalized on their chances and we did not," CU head coach Austin Daniels said. "I can't fault our effort, but we have got to put the ball away. We created a lot of chances, but we have got to score." Overshadowed in the defeat was another stellar performance by senior goalkeeper Sloane Cox, who registered 12 saves in the game.

Iowa State opened the game's scoring with a goal in the 12th minute, but Colorado quickly rallied when junior Shawn Kenyon took an assist from Jessica Wollow and buried a ball in the back of the Cyclone net to knot the score at one with 19 minutes elapsed. Iowa State registered the game's final tally, however, in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 edge which, after 45 minutes of scoreless play in the second half, would become the contest's final score.

Iowa State moves to 6-5-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the Big 12 with the win.

Next up for Colorado will be a game Sunday against perennial national power Nebraska at noon MST in Lincoln, Neb.
