W-GOLF SLIPS TO 14TH AT VEGAS FOUNDERS SHOOTOUT

HENDERSON, Nev. - Three players combined to shave 13 strokes off their first round scores, but the University of Colorado women's golf team carded a second straight 319 and with a two-round 319-319-638, has to slipped to 14th at the Las Vegas Founders Showdown at the Anthem Country Club here Tuesday.
New Mexico shot a second straight even par 288 and the Lobos (288-288-576) have increased their lead to seven strokes ahead of second place Tennessee (296-295-591), which was third after Monday's first round. First round leader Trisha Quick of Colorado has slipped to a share of third (68-75-143), a pair of strokes behind new individual leader Katrina Leckovic of New Mexico with a 69-72-141, who is just a single stroke ahead of Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum (70-72-142).
Freshman Regina Rodriquez showed the team's biggest first to second round improvement, taking a team-high eight strokes off her first round 86 to card a 78 on the second loop for a 36-hole total 164 and a share of 69th place. Her score today was just the third of her career to count towards the team score.
Maria Persson Gulda, CU's low score the last three tournaments, came back to life today as the sophomore improved from a first round 80 to a second round 76 and moved seven places up the leaderboard as a result for a share of 46th.
Second year player Jessie Malcolm took a slim stroke off Monday's round and her two day total 86-85-171 has her still sitting in 83rd place.
With just a single stroke difference in her first to second round scores, freshman Hannah Hoch fell 17 places for a share of 53rd place with a 36-hole 78-79-157. But junior Allison Rella, who was CU's low score after Monday's first round 75, turned in an 87 today and fell from a spot among the top 20 players in the field to 65th.
The third and final round of CU's final fall tournament will be decided Wednesday.
