MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Colorado women's tennis team received winning points by sophomore Kendra Strandemo and junior Morgan Sall at the No. 4 and No. 6 slots, respectively, however it wasn't enough as the host Kansas State Wildcats defeated the Buffaloes, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in a Big 12 Conference match.
Colorado drops to 9-6 overall and to 2-5 in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 5-2 and 1-4 in the Big 12.
The Buffaloes, ranked No. 37 in their latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings received singles points from Strandemo and Sall, who earned their 13th and 11th win, respectively this spring. Strandemo, improved her spring record to a stellar 10-1, while Sall has been equally impressive at No. 6, is 10-2 at that position, including the last nine in a row. Both CU players won in straight sets.
Kansas State (5-2, 1-4), ranked No. 39 by the ITA took a 1-0 lead securing the doubles points, then dominated the top three singles positions to clinch the match with a 4-0 cushion.
Colorado (9-6, 2-5) remains in the state of Kansas this weekend, taking on the No. 75 Jayhawks on Sunday, April 6.
