ANDERSON TAKES SEVENTH AT UNC

October 05, 2004 | Men's Golf

WINDSOR ? University of Colorado sophomore Ryan Anderson finished seventh Tuesday in the Northern Colorado Invitational, as two Buffalo golfers competed here as individuals in getting their first taste of tournament action this fall.

Anderson, from nearby Greeley, recorded a 74-74-76?224 scorecard on the challenging 7,064-yard, par-72 Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club layout, as he was seven shots behind medalist Scott Redmond of Air Force, who won with a 73-72-72?217 score.

Colorado freshman Stuart Ross finished 17th in the tournament with a 75-76-78?229 effort.  It was his first amateur competition in the United States as he hails from Workington, England, and was the last member to join coach Mark Simpson's 2004 recruiting class.

“I felt it was important to get a couple of the guys who hadn't traveled with us to our first two meets some competitive action,” Simpson said.

Host Northern Colorado easily won the seven-school team competition with an 880 score, with Air Force second, some 32 strokes behind the Bears.
