Volleyball Hits Road against Iowa State and Texas A&M

Spikers Fall in Three To Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. ? University of Colorado senior Amber Sutherland recorded 13 kills, but it was not enough as the Buffs fell 18-25, 23-25, 17-25 to Missouri on Wednesday night.

 

With the loss, the Buffs fall to 10-9 overall and are 4-6 in the Big 12. This loss marks the fifth straight road match the Buffs have lost in conference play.

 

Sutherland was the only Buff to record double-digits in kills. Schylur Edelman was the next highest scorer for the Buffs with six kills. Colorado hit .073 as a team while the Tigers hit .161.

 

Edelman also added seven blocks; one solo and six assists. The Buffs recorded 10.0 as a team. Alex Buth, Alex Penewell and Kaitlyn Burkett each added three.

 

Colorado picked up 62 digs to Missouri's 58. Callie Webster led CU with 19 digs. Ashley VenHorst added 11 and Buth tallied 10.

 

After dropping the first set, the Buffs came out strong in the second set and led until Missouri tied the score at 22. The Tiger's took the lead off a CU error. Colorado took the next point off a kill from Buth, but the Tigers recorded two straight kills to close the set.  

 

The Buffs will continue their road stand on Saturday, Oct. 25 against Texas Tech in Lubbock. The contest is set for a 5:30 p.m. (MST) start.
