
Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision

The Pioneers won their sixth straight match (6-0), while the Buffaloes lost their fourth of five matches dropping to 1-4.
CU won the doubles points taking a 1-0 advantage behind wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Monica Milewski and Franziska Jendrian; and at No. 3 from Melisa Esposito and Abbie Probert.
Milewski/Jendrian tallied their fourth triumph in five outings this spring, while Esposito/Probert remained
unbeaten in two matches.
In singles, CU managed only pair of victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots with Jendrian defeating Bhavani Tirumurti, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(7) along with Veera Nurmi sweeping Kaja Smole in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Nurmi won her 61st career singles match remaining in 19th place in school history; Jendrian her 48th.
Overall, the two schools have battled each other to the brink over the last five years with DU holding a 3-2 edge with four of those going the distance with 4-3 decisions.
CU leads the series 27-5 dating back to 1975.
The Buffs take to the road for the next two weeks with a trio of matches against William & Mary (Feb. 16), Old Dominion (Feb. 17) and
CU leads the series against W&M, 1-0; first-ever meeting with the Lady Monarchs; and trail 11-4 to
