TUCSON ? Indiana University held on for a nine-shot victory, with help from a tournament-low 291, here in the final round of the MountainView Collegiate on Sunday afternoon.

Indiana's three round total of 880 bested San Jose State's 889 to win the 10th annual event.  Texas Tech (891) and Oklahoma (891) tied for third place and Missouri took fifth with a two-round total of 892.

In the individual race, Indiana's Lauren Harling (215) was a one-shot winner over San Jose State's Erica Moston (76).  Moston, the leader after day one, shot a 68 in the first round of the tournament, tying the overall tournament low at the MountainView Collegiate.

It was not the moving day that the host Colorado Buffaloes were aiming for, as a hopeful start had the Buffs as low as two-under as a team for the round through the first five holes, but they lost control down the stretch and finished with a third-round total of 306 and a 910 for the tournament, good for a 12th place finish.

Sophomore Dominique Pytlewski rallied back in the third round Sunday, improving five strokes from the second round to lead the Buffaloes with a one-over 73 on the day, good for a three-round total of 225.  Pytlewski finished in a tie for 25th place overall.

“It's tough because if you put us on an easy course, we can't find a way to shoot low, but on a more difficult course we generally play a lot better,” said Pytlewski.  “A lot of people complained that they weren't making enough birdies and that a lot of our putts weren't dropping.  For most of us we had a lot of pars and not enough birdies on the weekend to really make the comeback that we had hoped for.”

Fellow sophomore Christine Kim had a few troubles late in the third round and slipped back into a tie for 31st place after carding a six-over 78 on the day.  She finished with a total of 226, including an even-par 72 in the second round, which proved to be a team low on the weekend.

Senior Lindsay Senger managed to battle a few tough holes on the day and come away with a 76 in the final round, good for a 231 total, to put her in a tie for 56th overall.

Freshman Stephanie Simich (77-74-83-234) and junior Cierra Ko (74-84-79-238) rounded out the scoring for the Buffs and finished in a tie for 67th and 80th place, respectively.

While CU may not have had the performance that they had hoped for, they couldn't have asked for more support from the staff members at the MountainView golf course and all of the host families and tournament volunteers in the SaddleBrooke community.

“We're disappointed with the finish but personally I'm excited that we have a tournament beginning tomorrow,” said head coach Anne Kelly.  “Like I've been saying all year, I think that we're very close.  We're still battling injuries, and not having Julie Kim with us this tournament definitely hurt, but hopefully everyone will take away a lesson from this and step up and play hard and play smart golf in Sacramento.”

The Buffaloes rush out of Tucson Sunday night to Sacramento, Calif. to turn around in the Sacramento State Invitational starting Monday and Tuesday, March 31-April 1.
