February 07, 2010 | Tennis
The win improves the No. 38 Broncos to 3-2, while CU drops to 3-3. It was only the second win for Boise State against Colorado in seven matches between the two schools.
The day started off very close with the home team clinching the doubles point and taking a 9-7 decision as Lauren Megale and Pichittra Thongdach, the No. 24 ranked team in the national edged Belassi and Melisa Esposito, 9-7.
Boise State then rode the momentum in singles play winning the next three singles points for a 4-0 advantage.
Belassi and Milewski added singles points at their respective slots. Belassi defeated Bianca Jochimsen, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 at No. 3; and Milewski rallied to edge Lauren Megale, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2. It's the seventh time in her career that Milewski has rallied from a set down to earn victory.
Belassi won her third straight match and 64th of her career in singles play, while Milewski, the No. 90 ranked player secured her 78th career singles and 69th doubles win. The 78 triumphs is good enough for eighth place on the school's all-time wins list and in doubles, moving into a second place tie with Jessica Garrow (1996-2000) on the all-time list.
CU travels to Albuquerque, N.M. to play Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 13 and the host Lobos on Sunday. Feb. 14.
