
Tennis Rolls Over Oregon, 7-0

The win improves the Buffaloes to a 4-3 record and continues their dominance over the Ducks (5-2) winning their ninth match in 13 head-to-head battles. It's also the first win over Oregon since 2003, and the team's first 7-0 shutout since blanking Kansas State last season.
"Today we had an excellent showing from top to bottom in our lineup," CU head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "This is a very good victory for us that will build momentum for Sunday's against New Mexico."
After successfully winning the doubles point and taking two of three slots behind Camila Belassi/Melisa Esposito, and Ania Anuszkiewicz/ Monica Milewski at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively, the Buffs then secured five of six singles positions in straight sets. It's the third time this season CU has won the doubles point, then won the match.
The team of Anuszkiewicz/Milewski became the first ones off the court on the day defeating Julia Metzger and Sabina Fuchs, 8-3. Milewski moved one step closer in becoming the school's all-time doubles winner notching her 70th victory. She stands six victories from tying all-time leader Franziska Jendrian (2006-09) with 76.
CU clinched the doubles point as Belassi and Esposito improved their team best 10th doubles win defeating Smatova/du Toit, 8-4. It was also the CU senior's 16th career clinching doubles win.
With a 1-0 lead, CU kept the momentum rolling along with freshman Erin Sanders winning her second collegiate match in three outings defeating Mahdi Besovic, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6. Esposito then made it 3-0 on the scoreboard defeating Julia Metzger, 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Esposito, the nation's No. 64 ranked singles player, moved into 15th place on the school's all-time victory list claiming her 72nd win.
Milewski clinched the team victory, her 14th career, defeating Pavlina Smatova, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 slot. Milewski also secured her 79th singles win and her team-best 14th win of the year.
The Buffaloes added a trio of singles points later in the afternoon with Belassi, Abbie Probert, and Michala Hedelund Jensen winning at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 positions.
Belassi defeated Trudie du Toit, 6-2, 6-3 for her 65th career triumph; Probert edged Patricia Skowronski, 7-5, 6-2 for her 29th career win; and Hedelund Jensen was forced to play three sets, however edged Emmanuelle Cor 6-1, 6-7(3),1-0(7)to break a personal four-match losing streak.
CU will take on the host Lobos, Sunday afternoon at 10 a.m.
