ERZURUM, Turkey & OTEPPA, Estonia - Three University of Colorado skiers were in action overseas Sunday as action continues at both the 25th World University Games in Turkey and the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Estonia.

Junior Taggart Spenst earned a top 20 finish in the men's Super G race on day two of the World University Games for the United States.  He was the third finisher in from the U.S. and moved up from an original starting spot of 31.  His time of 1:08.96 was just over two seconds behind the gold medal winner, Adam Zika from the Czech Republic.  Senior Gabriel Rivas, skiing for France, did not finish the race.

Meanwhile in Estonia, sophomore Joanne Reid finished 24th in the 10K pursuit race. Reid, the second-best finisher from the United States, was seeded 30th and after the classical portion of the race with a time of 17:09.1, that's where she stood, but after the ninth-best pit stop (30.7 seconds) and the 23rd best time in the freestyle (15:11.7), she was able to move up six spots to 24th with a final time of 32:51.6.

Reid has one more race, the 4x3.3K relay where she will be the final leg along with her U.S. teammates Amy Glen, Kinsey Loan and Jessie Diggins.  The race will take place Monday.

Next up in Turkey will be the men's and women's super combined races on Tuesday.  The women's race was supposed to take place Monday but has been postponed until Tuesday so both genders will race on the same day.

CU is represented by five women's alpine skiers in Turkey, as Kirsten Cooper, Erika Ghent and Katie Hartman are all racing for the United States while Sara Hjertman and Carolina Nordh are racing for Sweden.  Hartman won Saturday's Super G race to kick things off in Turkey, while Ghent took fourth.
