Morris Becomes 3rd Fastest 200-Meter Buff
February 05, 2011 | Track and Field
Morris clocked a time of 21.29 seconds in the 200 to become the third fastest performer all-time in CU's history. He was the top collegiate finisher in the race as former CU standout and volunteer assistant coach Jeremy Dodson took first with a time of 20.96. Quinton Dodson ran in the consolation final of the 200 and placed second (21.79).
Morris ran the third leg in the 4x400-meter relay that clocked a time of 3:14.38. He was joined by Kyle MacIntosh, Matthew McCathran and Blake Reimer. MacIntosh qualified for the consolation final of the 400 and placed seventh with a time of 49.88.
Brooke Regan also had a good performance for the Buffs, placing fifth overall in the 600-yard run. She recorded the second-fastest time in CU history with a mark of 1:23.70. The time is also the eighth fastest in the Big 12 this season.
Adam Salzmann led the Buffs at the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. as he finished with a personal best point total of 5,250 in the men's heptathlon. The total is also good enough for third place in CU's all-time record book.
Salzmann also recorded a personal best mark in the pole vault with a jump of 15 feet, 1 inch, putting him in a third place tie on CU's list of all-time best marks. He was only .01 seconds away from tying his PR in the 60-meter hurdles as he finished in 8.53 seconds.
Colorado will be back in action next weekend. The Buffs will compete at the Air Force Invitational (U.S. Air Force Academy) Feb. 11-12 and at the Husky Classic (Seattle, Wash.) Feb. 12.
