Van Halen Records PR at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - University of Colorado redshirt sophomore Aric Van Halen raced to a first-place finish in the Open B section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday night.

Van Halen clocked a personal record of 9 minutes, 2.59 seconds in the race, improving his PR by almost 10 seconds (9:12.42). It was a close race as he beat out Idaho's Markus Geiger by 1.48 seconds (9:04.07). Metro State's Eiger Erickson was just behind Geiger at 9:04.11.

The Buffs will continue competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and Saturday. Other members of the team will compete at the Colorado State-Pueblo Invitational and Beach Invitational (hosted by Long Beach State) on Saturday.
