Jumpers Compete At New Mexico Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Freshman Mark Jones led the University of Colorado high jumpers with a fourth-place finish at the New Mexico Classic on Friday night.
Jones recorded a jump of 6 feet, 10 ¼ inches, while teammate, sophomore Jason DeWitt, placed 12th overall after clearing 6-6 ¼. Kansas State's Erik Kynard won the meet after jumping 7-7.
Senior Katie Dreher became the eighth best CU performer in the high jump after earning a mark of 5-8, improving on her lifetime best by one inch. She placed sixth overall. Western State's Barbara Szabo won the event with a jump of 6-2.
The CU track and field team will be spread out next weekend, competing at three different meets. Some will compete at the Iowa State Classic (Feb. 9-11) in Ames, Iowa, while others will head to the Husky Classic (Feb. 10-11) in Seattle, Wash. The remaining members of the team will head to the Air Force Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 10-11) at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo.
