Winter Leads CU At Stanford Invite

STANFORD, Calif. – Connor Winter, a redshirt freshman for the University of Colorado, became the 13th-fastest 1,500 meter performer in CU history on Friday night when he clocked a time of 3 minutes, 44.54 seconds at the Nike Stanford Invitational.
Winter placed seventh overall in the top section of the 1,500, which was won in 3:40.77 by Oklahoma's Riley Masters. His teammate, Blake Theroux, was also in the section and finished ninth in 3:48.19.
Richard Medina and Hugh Dowdy also competed in the 1,500. Medina was 12th in the second section (3:51.78) and Dowdy was 10th in the fourth heat, crossing the finish in 3:55.79.
Another pair of CU runners were also in action at the meet. Ammar Moussa also ran his first outdoor 5k race for the Buffs and placed 17th in the second section. Moussa finished the race in 14:12.79. Pierce Murphy debuted in the 10k late Friday night. He finished 11th in the second heat in 29:37.71.
Many track and field Buffs will be competing on Saturday at the Fum McGraw Quadrangular in Fort Collins, Colo.
