WOLCOTT – The University of Colorado women's golf team finished strong in the final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Wednesday with all three Buffs improving their third round scores at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.
“Today was a better day,” said Colorado head coach Anne Kelly. “Everybody played better and the weather was really nice. The hole locations were more player friendly as well.”
Junior Allie Zech had the best overall tournament score for the Buffaloes recording a 76-80-78–234 or 18-over par. She bogeyed her first hole to go one-over and then drained her only birdie of the day five holes later to drop back to even-par. Zech went six-over par through the remainder of her round to post a 78 on the day. She improved her third round score by two strokes from round two and finished tied for 56th place.
Tori Glenn carded a three-over par, 75 in the final round, 15 strokes better than her score on Tuesday. She made her first birdie on her 12th hole of the afternoon and then hit a rough patch, recording back-to-back bogeys. The redshirt freshman settled down nicely with a birdie and two pars over the next three holes. She posted a 72-90-75–237 or 21-over par for the tournament and moved up four to finish tied for 64th.
Junior Megan Haase finished the round at 14-over par 86 and was 50-over par (85-95-86–266) to place 87th. Despite struggling and going 11-over on the back nine, Haase shaved nine strokes off her third round score.
Pepperdine's Marissa Chow won the tournament with a 73-70-67–210, six-under par. The Waves also finished in first as a team (284-298-280–862), edging out Tennessee by one stroke.
The Buffs have a week off before traveling to the Pacific Northwest for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Sammamish, Wash. Oct. 7-9.
“It's nice to have a little break in the tournament schedule so we can get in some good quality practice and get everybody healthy,” said Kelly.
