October 30, 2015 | Women's Golf

KONA, Hawai'i – The University of Colorado women's golf team will leave the mainland this weekend as the Buffaloes travel to Kona, Hawai'i to close out the fall season in the Pac-12 Preview, Nov. 2-3 at Nanea Golf Club.

The Buffs, ranked 27 and 43 (GolfStat/Golfweek) in the latest polls, have competed in three tournaments this fall and also sent a trio of individuals to one event. Colorado's best performance thus far came in record-setting fashion at the East & West Match Play Challenge in Madison, Wisc. The Buffaloes won the stroke-play portion, shooting 11-under par, the third lowest team score in program history while junior Esther Lee anchored the squad as she carded a school record 8-under par 64 in the second round to earn medalist honors. Colorado went on to finish second overall.

Earlier this season, the Buffs made history when they debuted at No. 11 in the initial Golfweek ranking and Lee ranked No. 3 individually.

The Pac-12 Preview will feature a challenging 12-team field with seven schools holding a top 20 ranking.  Each Pac-12 women's golf team is set to compete along with tournament host, Hawai'i on the par 73, 6,112-yard course. This marks the third straight year the event will be played at Nanea Golf Club, a private course co-owned by businessmen George Roberts and Charles Schwab.

In their first appearance in 2013, the Buffaloes finished 11th overall and last year they claimed 10th place. Sophomore Brittany Fan carded the Buffs' best score, shooting 4-over par and finished tied for 17th place in the standings.

For the final tournament of the fall, head coach Anne Kelly will have senior Alexis Keating, junior Natalie Vivaldi, freshman Gillian Vance, Fan and Lee to contribute to the team scoring and senior Jamie Oleksiew will play as an individual.

The 54-hole tournament gets underway on Monday with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. MT (7:30 a.m. HT) with the first two rounds being played. The event concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
