SKILLMAN, N.J. - Coming off a pair of wins last weekend, the University of Colorado women's tennis team made one of the biggest jumps up the Division I national rankings, moving from No. 68 to No. 44, announced Tuesday.
The Buffaloes are off to their best start in the program's history since the 1997 season with an 8-1 record. This past weekend, CU defeated Nevada, 5-0 and then-No. 75 Kansas, 4-2.
The pair of wins pushes the Buffs winning streak to four in a row.
The No. 44 national ranking is the program's highest since the 2009 spring season when CU was No. 39 nationally.
Colorado made the fifth biggest jump up the rankings on Tuesday with Brown, New Mexico and William & Mary climbing 27 spots. Syracuse moved up 25 places, followed by Colorado with 24 spots.
The Buffaloes are one of nine Pac-12 Conference schools ranked among the Top 75. CU joins Southern California (No. 4), Stanford (No. 7), California (8), UCLA (11), Arizona State (32), Washington (62), Arizona (66), and Utah (73).
There are two more non-conference matches remaining until the conference slate begins. This weekend, CU travels to Boise to take on Fresno State (Saturday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. MST), then will play the host Broncos on Sunday, March 1 (10 a.m.).
