October 16, 2016 | Women's Golf
STANFORD, Calif. – Constant rain and standing water on the Stanford Golf Course forced the cancellation of the final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Scores after Saturday's second round will stand as final, putting the No. 38 ranked Buffaloes at 14th place with a 36-hole score of 604, or 36-over par. Colorado was nearing the turn of its first nine holes, about two hours in, when play was called.
Freshman Kirsty Hodgkins finished tied for fifth at 1-over; her second top 5 finish in three collegiate rounds which head coach Anne Kelly lauded as a "good finish in a very strong field."
Top-ranked Esther Lee placed 18th at 5-over, notching her 23rd career top 20 finish. Brittany Fan tied for 45th at 10-over while Robyn Choi and Gillian Vance tied for 87th at 25-over.
No. 8 UCLA took the team title at 4-over, 572, defeating second-ranked and host Stanford by 11 strokes.
UCLA's Bronte Law took medalist honors by five strokes with a 7-under 135 on the heels of a tournament-low 65 in the second round.
Colorado will complete its fall schedule by competing in the Pac-12 Preview in Kailua Kona, Hawai'i, Oct. 24-25.
