Ormeño Ruiz Knocked Out Of All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Nuria Ormeño Ruiz dropped her first match in the Main Draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Thursday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Her tournament will continue on Friday in the Back Draw.
 
Ormeño Ruiz fell 6-4, 6-0 to Sara Daavettila from North Carolina in the Round of 32. She led 4-3 in the first set before losing momentum.
 
Ormeño Ruiz won three matches over top-100 opponents earlier this week in the Qualifying Draw to advance into the Main Draw on Thursday, where she was seeking to become the first CU player ever to advance past the Round of 32.
 
Play will begin in the Back Draw at 1:30 p.m. MT and she will play again at 5:15 MT if she wins.
