Ormeño Ruiz Heads To All-American Championships

BOULDER - Nuria Ormeño Ruiz will head to the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Monday to compete in the Main Draw in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Complete notes are attached to the right in the PDF.
CU Invitational Recap
• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz won the singles championship at the CU Invitational, going 3-0 after earning the No. 1 seed.
• Louise Ronaldson and Kyra Wojcik both went 3-1 in singles play and Wojcik finished second in the Black Draw.
• Ormeño Ruiz and Annabelle Andrinopoulos were both a perfect 3-0 in doubles play, playing with a different partner in each match.
All-American Championships (complete past results on Page 18)
• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz will compete in the Qualifying round of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
• Eight players from Qualifying will advance to the Round of 32 in the Main Draw.
• No CU player has ever advanced past the Round of 32.
• CU has had players compete at the All-American Championships 11 times previously (including qualifying rounds) and has had a total of seven players compete in the singles Main Draw six times.

• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz won her 50th career singles match against New Mexico on Jan. 22.
• Ormeño Ruiz won her 100th career combined singles and doubles win with a singles victory over Shayne Austin from Arizona in the consolation of the Pac-12 Championships on April 22.
Single Season Record Books
• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz finished the year with a 23-13 singles record, ranking 28th in single season wins at CU.
• Her 23 wins were the most since Monica Milewski won 26 matches in 2009-10.
Wojcik's Big Weekend
• Sophomore Kyra Wojcik won her first two career Pac-12 dual matches April 1-3, defeating Kristin Wiley from UCLA in three sets and No. 106 Rianna Valdes from USC.
CU Knocks Off No. 41 Oregon
• CU upset No. 41 Oregon on April 8 with a 4-3 win in Eugene.
• It was the first conference road win for the Buffs since joining the Pac-12 in 2011-12.
• It was the highest-ranked opponent CU has defeated since winning 4-3 against No. 38 UNLV in 2009.
• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz clinched the match with a 7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-6 (5) win over Nia Rose.
• The two players began their third set with the team score tied 3-3.
Buffs Upset No. 59 Arizona
• Colorado upset No. 59 with a 4-3 win at home on March 13.
• It was CU's first win over a ranked Pac-12 opponent since 2013.
• CU beat Arizona with all four of its points coming from singles wins by Nuria Ormeño Ruiz, Jeannez Daniel, Alex Aiello and Annabelle Andrinopoulos.
• CU has won a total of four Pac-12 conference matches since joining in the league in 2011-12 and has yet to win back-to-back matches.
National Rankings
• Nuria Ormeño Ruiz opens the 2016-17 season ranked No. 110 in the nation in the ITA singles rankings.

Annabelle Andrinopoulos
• Went 2-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles at the CU Invitational.
• Led the team with 13 doubles wins this season and also had 11 singles win in 2015-16.
• Led the team with four wins at No. 4 singles in 2015-16.
• Earned first career singles win on Sept. 24, 2015 against Victoire Saperstein from Georgetown (6-2, 6-4) and first dual singles win on Jan. 17 against Chloe Forlini from Air Force (6-2, 6-2).

Brigitte Beck
• Will likely miss the fall season with a wrist injury.
• Had four doubles wins and one singles win in 2015-16.
• Earned first career singles win on March 5, 2016 against Celine Voss from Colorado State (6-4, 6-2), clinching the team win.
Jeannez Daniel
• Went 1-0 in singles play in her only match at the CU Invitational after missing the first two days with an illness.
• Transferred from UTEP and moved into the No. 2 singles position last year.
• Had 11 singles wins and a 12-12 doubles record, the best doubles winning percentage (.500) on the team in 2015-16.
• Earned Pac-12 singles wins against Shayne Austin (Arizona) and Stacey Fung (Washington) in 2015-16.
• Win against Fung (6-4, 6-4) was her first upset of a nationally-ranked opponent as Fung was ranked 105th in the nation.
• Had three doubles-clinching wins last season and her singles win against No. 59 Arizona clinched the team's win in that match.
Chloe Hule
• Went 1-2 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles at the CU Invitational.
• Ranked as high as No. 188 among world juniors
• Ranked as high as No. 45 among all females in Australia
Nuria Ormeño Ruiz
• Won the CU Invitational singles championship with a 3-0 record and was also 3-0 in doubles play.
• Became first-ever CU player to qualify for and compete at National Indoor Championships after winning the ITA Mountain Region singles championship in 2015.
• Named CU Female Athlete of the Week on Oct. 20, 2015 after her regional championship.
• Led the team in singles wins (23), No. 1 singles wins (7), tournament wins (11), Pac-12 wins (4) and dual-match wins (12) in 2015-16.
• Her 23 singles wins last season ranked 28th in CU single-season history.
• Earned a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win over 27th-ranked Lauren Marker in CU's 4-3 win over Arizona on March 13, 2016, her first win over a ranked opponent last season.

• Two-time SEC Freshman of the Week in 2014-15 and went 18-15 in singles play and 15-13 in doubles action
Kyra Wojcik

• Had 10 singles wins and two doubles wins in 2015-16.
