April 12, 2016 | Lacrosse

BOULDER - Colorado lacrosse player Johnna Fusco was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Offensive Player of the Week late Monday night.

It is the first offensive award of her career; she was named conference rookie of the week three times in 2014.

Fusco joins defender Sarah Brown (Feb. 15) and goalkeeper Paige Soenksen (March 28), who both earned the defensive award, as Buffaloes who have earned conference player of the week this season.

A junior from Marietta, Ga., Fusco scored seven goals on 15 shot attempts and had three ground balls and two draw controls in two games last week. She had three goals on Friday against No. 7/6 Southern California and scored four times on Sunday against San Diego State.

This season, Fusco leads the team with 26 goals, 33 points, 68 shot attempts, 46 shots on goal and 12 free-position shots in just 20 attempts. She also has seven assists, 15 ground balls, 14 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers.

Colorado is 9-4 this season, including 4-2 in the MPSF. The Buffs will host Saint Mary's on Friday at 3 p.m. in a conference game at Kittredge Field.
