Buffs Finish CSM Invitational On A Strong Note

GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado track and field team finished the Colorado School of Mines Nature's Bakery Invitational on a strong note on Saturday.
The men's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays both came away with victories. The 4x100, made up of Patrick Carr, Jaysean Skrine, Austin Mitsch and Duane McClurkin Jr., earned a time of 40.83. McClurkin Jr. returned to the track with the 4x400 relay team, joining Darrin Haynes, Trenton Stringari and Isaiah Oliver, for a time of 3:11.01.
McClurkin Jr., wasn't done with the first place finishes as he won the high jump with a personal best of 6-8.75. Colorado recorded the top three places in the men's high jump as Dionne Taylor Jr. was second (6-6.75) and Mason Chronowski was third (6-6.75).
Taylor Jr. also had a great performance in the long jump, recording a third place finish with a leap of 22-9.75. The Buffs had another pair of third placers in the jumps. De'Jour Plunkett-Elliott was third in the triple jump (45-7.25) and Andrew Ghizzone was third in the pole vault (15-4.50).
Jaron Thomas had a good day on the track, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.17, while Alex Billing was third in 14.56. Isaiah Kaiser was second in the 400-meter hurdles (53.29). In the open 100, Carr captured a first place finish with a season best finish of 10.78 and Agramonte Moreno was third in 11.07.
Brady Rutt led the throwers with a second place finish in the discus, launching it 167-9.25 to finish second to two-time Olympian and CU assistant coach Casey Malone (173-4.50). Rutt was also second in the hammer throw, recording a PR of 197-11.
The women's team also did well at the meet. Mia Holland won the 100 in 12.61 and Tashay Brown recorded a time of 24.67 to win the 200. Maja Wichhart-Donzo was second in both the open 200 (24.72) and the 100-hurdles (14.40).
The Buffs went 1-2 in the women's high jump. Abrianna Torres won after clearing 5-8.50, a PR, and Kelsey English was second after reaching 5-7.
Mariah Walker was the winner in the women's discus, launching a throw of 146-2.25 and Sophie Hallam-Eames placed third with a mark of 138-10.75. In the hammer throw, Elisa Grandemange was second with a PR toss of 182-7.50.
