Winter, Wojcik Earn Athlete of the Week Honors

BOULDER -- Connor Winter (men's track and field) and Kyra Wojcik (tennis) are this week's
Athletes of the Week. Winter became CU's seventh fastest performer in the 3,000-
meter steeplechase after clocking a time of 8:42.44, while Wojcik went 2-0 for her
first-ever Pac-12 win on Friday against UCLA's Kristin Wiley.
Winter's time of 8:42.44 surpassed his previous personal best of 8:48.93. The mark
put him sixth overall in the top section of the steeplechase and is currently the fifth
fastest time in the NCAA Division I.
Wojcik was a bright spot for the Buffaloes tennis team. She won 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (3) at
the No. 5 position. Wojcik upset 106th-ranked Rianna Valdes against USC on Sunday
after Valdes retired.
Also nominated for this week's honors: Erin Clark (women's track and field) and
Marie Moore (lacrosse).
Sophomore Clark recorded the third fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase time this
season in the NCAA Division I, after clocking in at 10:00.77 at the Stanford
Invitational on Friday night. The time was seventh in the heat, which featured
several Division I, II and professional athletes. Clark was just a more than a second
off her personal record (9:59.67).
Moore led CU to a strong week defensively with her play in the midfield. She led the
team to a 7.50 goals-against average with nine draw controls, five ground balls, and
two caused turnovers, while adding four goals and two assists. In Friday's 14-3 win
at UC Davis, she had five draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers,
while scoring two goals and assisting on two others. Moore had four draw controls,
a ground ball, and two goals on Sunday at Stanford in a 12-10 loss.
